I was never afraid to fly … until the latest generation of Boeing jets. I know that statistically the risk is still very low, but when it turns out I’m going to fly on a Dreamliner, I’m always somewhat stressed.
Have to admit, I agree. I know there is a lot of sensationalism out there, but there are serious reasons to take issue with Boeing’s output, especially newer models.
It’s not like I’m refusing to fly on Boeing and I think that’s generally an overreaction… but there is a slight, very slight relief when I see my flight is scheduled with an Airbus.
Well, the 767 Max is fucking scary, everything about that aircraft is a mess. But on a technical level, the 787 "dreamliner’ is a whole different story. There were some real innovations with that aircraft, it’s doing a lot right.
That said, there could certainly be some new issues with it that I’m not aware of. But at least, the last I heard, it was still a really good example of modern aerospace tech.
