    Dog sitting update.

Neighbour asked me if it’s okay if him and his missus stay out till late and can dog stay here.

I benevolently agreed…not letting onto that the dog has been walked, fed and is currently snuggled up to me on the couch.

I’m sleeping on the couch tonight it seems.

I suppose I better sew on buttons correctly and measure first. 😬 ( unpicks the wrong ones )

Bernadette just dropped a video about sewing on buttons. I’m deeply impressed with her technique of doing the holes first then putting the holes over where the buttons are to go and marking through the holes. Why didn’t I think of that? No need to measure anything.

        There are no button holes!

I am sewing clear snaps inside the plackets and then decorative buttons on top. That’s 30 to sew on. 🤪

It’s wild and wet out there. Not sure where little dude goes in bad weather because it’s not home. I bought bedding straw to put in the round plastic bin I have and a tarp for now. Hopefully set up a dry area tomorrow

If he even comes back into the area… I’ve been changing the spot a lot which cats hate. And the tarp is rustling a lot which could be offputting

It was raining and when it slowed to a drizzle he went past in all the wet. At night. (My council has a cat curfew.) There’s also a flattened area in a nook under the eaves which he may be using as shelter.

Afaik he’s “owned” but there’s a lot of owners who let them live as outside cats and do jackshit to care for them. And it has happened before that a previous cat was suddenly coming to me much more because his owner had moved away leaving him behind :(

If he’s anything like our past cats, to the nearest place with an open fire that feeds him treats.

This very cheap ebay reader claims that this cat doesn’t have a chip, but due to its quality it can’t really be trusted. And he was trying to come inside 😭 Which I can’t allow because I haven’t even got the floor bare and clear to be able to repetitively vacuum it. Ringworm is making everything harder.

No idea what the future holds… I’m currently barely able to look after myself let alone have another pet. But I might see if I can get hold of a higher quality scanner. I’ve rehoisted the sail and set the bin up with the straw bedding so I hope he finds it.

Has anyone had a “canker sore” on their tongue before? I just woke up with this sore yesterday. Eating has now become a painful experience. Food has to be in liquid form to go down and even then it still hurts. Booked in with the doc for later today.

Dinner will need to be some kind of soup.

Stress caused apparently, it’s amazing how much stress messes up our physical health too.

Rub some Vegemite on it, that stings but can help. Or get some Chlorofluor oral gel from the chemist.

Make sure you’re up on B12 (so Marmite might be a better choice of spread)

      yup.

Xylocaine. Gel. not ointment. Safe for oral use. Available at chemist. will numb like the dickens.

Oh yes. I got sick as a kid with something that caused them and now I get one or two mild ones often if I am about to come down with the flu. Salt water gargle bit weirdly avoid salty or acidic food. Bonjela helps (do they still make that?)

Neighbour is dogsitting an Australian shepherd this week. The dog’s owner is a mutual friend.

Neighbour had to run errands today and the dog is crying. Messaged neighbour that I’m taking the dog to my house (have keys to his joint) and he can stay out longer.

Doggo is snoozing on the couch right now and has made himself at home.

If the wind dies down a little I might nip on down to the close beach to see what the storms have brought in.

Got my first bunting from Sammy today, and Cerys gave them their first hiss (not a bad one, she zoomed forward to eat a snack they’d accidentally bunted under the door and they were all up in her business so she said back off. Ears up and tail unfloofed). They also saw the electronic shutters open for the first time today and it blew their kitty minds

I ventured to the local NQR store for the first time today. I’m not sure if I like going there for the value or because they have different things to buy. I’ve stocked up on salmon, in the form of both burgers and frozen cooked chunks. I also got some turkey schnitzels and a frozen veg mix.

There was one small mess up - I thought I was buying a bottle of shampoo and two of conditioner, but it was actually two shampoos and one conditioner. As I always use the conditioner quicker this will lead to a significant imbalance.
