Climate change: this is already created by the rich. We can create an environment that has minimal effects on the earth. If China wasn’t leading solar power, we would be in an even worse situation.
Poverty and inequality: Taxing the rich solves this problem right away.
Corruption and bad governance: Rich are causing most of the problem, bribing, lobbying etc.
Access to clean water and food: Nestle and Bill Gates and many other rich are buying water resources and they don’t let governments set up a water fountain in the cities, I am not sure about all over the world, but in city centers that is what’s happening.
Public health: They are privatizing health. This is obvious especially in the USA.
Misinformation and polarization: This is created by the rich-owned media.
Biodiversity loss: You know, the rich don’t care about this either, we could come together and find a solution but the rich, who have the actual power do not care about nature.

See that’s the problem with speculative wealth.

We’re actually far better off enslaving the billionaires.

(This is a dark joke about capitalism).

So the problem is the ruling class and we’re going to fix it by taking money from the ruling class and giving it to the ruling class? Good luck.

You are right, taxing them and giving to the people, that’s what should happen, but i dunno how that will happen

In my opinion tax isn’t the answer at all. Tax is theft, specifically extortion i.e. “give me that, or else”.

We have to stop them becoming rich in the first place, which means undoing capitalism as their wealth is stolen from the rest of us as profits.

If you’re interested in understanding more here’s some nice reading.

        Respect for being open minded!

    Not unpopular

The language around it needs to be more focused though

Wealth tax is the mechanism this needs to occur, taxing income doesn’t touch these people

Definitely. I really hate it when people think taxing rich is taxing their income. Most of them don’t have income, they have assets. We need to tax assets

Every, say, month, we take the, say, 50 people with the highest average wealth for the month, publicly execute them, and disperse their assets. Put a lower limit on it (e.g. 50 million). Make it a race to the bottom.

Yes! From my perspective, taxing the rich is essential to ensuring we don’t have a class if people above the law. What we are learning in the Epstein files (at a minimum) is that money and power can insulate a person from accountability. I’d like to see that class taxed until it doesn’t exist.

… why tax them when you can just luigi them, redistribute their stolen riches and nationalise or erase their businesses?

We can actually, just get rid of the concept of money and live the post scarcity life.

You are totally correct in identifying that the ruling class are the source of our problems, so a big thumbs up for that! Sadly, however, taxing the rich is simply not enough to solve our problems. Only abolishing capitalism can do that. The rich are too entrenched for any reforms under capitalism to actually dislodge them from parasitically being attached to our society.

        It is not unpopular

This is the unpopular opinions community. This post directly conflicts with the purpose of this space.

        it is not talked enough

My brother in Christ, do you not look at the front page even semi-regularly? The top 2 things that are constantly being discussed are how the rich and powerful abuse the rest of the world and how to deal with said rich and powerful, either through higher taxes or higher guillotines.
