The water source is a stream that comes out of the moutain. Each basin is filled, then allowed to evaporate. The salt is scraped off and sold.

How’s the situation in Peru? I’m scheduled to visit in a few weeks and last I heard there was still strikes.
We never saw anything. Very peaceful. Apparently, there were some near the government buildings in Lima but, as we were not in that area, we didn’t see anything.

Yes, It picks it up running flowing through salt deposits in the mountain.
