Does Canada have a road paint shortage? How is that a crosswalk? It’s barely 2 thin lines! Paint the damn thing so it is clearly visible. I would be scared trying to cross one of those.

Not an excuse: the lines are clearly visible even if zebra markings would be better. More importantly, while I don’t know Canadian laws, usually pedestrians have the right of way regardless. You can’t just use the excuse that you were going to fast to stop, you can’t be angry at them because you hit them, and you can’t just take off.

    Alberta

Mostly filling with redneck refugees from the south, looking for oil, avoiding the IRS and spreading their sickness to the rest of Canada. Like 'Murican entitlement such as not caring about pedestrians.

A kid got hit on his bike in my community recently. I’m not sure of the outcome. What is the town doing about it? The local police are stopping kids and giving them fines for not wearing helmets…

Just a couple of days ago I had to bang on the hood of a car to get the driver to notice me. I swear to god they get stupider and even more entitled every day.

I mean, it’s a marked cross walk but it also appears to possibly be at an intersection with lights. Seeing as there is also a pedestrian crossing on the bottom right, at least one of those people is crossing when they probably are not supposed to be if there is a light controlled intersection there.

Doesn’t mean that they deserve to be hit, or that the driver wasn’t an ass, but context matters.

I’ve been in Alberta for a few weeks. Can’t wait for this place to implode. Hate it here. A lot of self entitlement

This kind of situation is probably not that rare. I know a guy who got rear ended at a red light by a minivan while on his bike. Broke both of his legs. While he’s howling in pain on the ground the woman who hit him gets out, stands over him for a second, gets back in the car, and drives away leaving him there to wait for other aid. She never got caught. He guessed that she got out to help, saw how badly she had maimed him, and decided to flee instead.

Notice how when she gets hit she falls over the hood, does a little spin, and ends up sitting on the ground? It doesn’t even look like her head hit the ground. That sucks.

But if this was any modern truck or SUV, and not a minivan, she might be straight dead. There’s no rolling over the hood of one of those, it’s just grill into face, back of skull into ground, and if you’re really lucky it doesn’t roll over top of you afterwards.
