Every night for the past 4 years I have asked my Google home to play thunderstorm sounds, and I sleep like a baby. Two weeks ago Google changed the thunderstorm track that they use, and I haven’t had a restful night of sleep since.
Luckily, I had made a backup of the track for this exact scenario. Any ideas for the best way to play the track on a loop every night, ideally triggered by voice or IFTTT? I have it as an mp3 file on my home server.
It depends on your skill level or willingness to learn. Home Assistant is designed specifically for home automation tasks. It runs locally (cloud access optional) and is completely under your control.
I have put several widgets on my phone’s home screen to control the smart lights in my room.
I haven’t personally tried the voice integration or media streaming, but I see no reason why they wouldn’t work for you.
