as someone who doesn’t really know a lot about F1 this race was really entertaining in the start, boring as hell in the middle, and entertaining in the end.
Glad for the papayas but man albon crashing max was such a death sentence for entertainment.

also I watch on a dodgy site and chat is horrible but also hilarious watching with others so I leave it on before the the race starts

There’s things wrong with F1 and you can argue about the price, but if you like watching the feeder series and or better summaries, I really would advise giving F1tv a shot.

Yeah unfortunately with how the turbulence behind the cars can affect the performance of the car that is close behind another car, they can’t keep up these close battles we saw in the beginning for very long. Basically if a car can race very close to another car but can’t pass it within something like 10 laps they have to give up and switch to a strategic pass via a pit stop. Otherwise the tires will degrade faster than of the car in front.

It was Kimi Antonelli that crashed into Max! Glad you enjoyed the race! A lot of races can get a bit stale in the middle as people are doing their longer runs, and the strategy comes into fruition at the end.

Technical problem. I don’t know anything more, but seems like the Williams had huge problems with overheating.

Unfortunate for Verstappen that Antonelli rammed into him. His WDC chances seem bleak if not over.

Good racing by both McLarens today. Piastri had one too many lockups today - especially that one at turn 4. Norris went wide a couple times as well. He did do well re-taking the lead when Piastri overtook him.

Double points for Sauber! So glad to see Bortoleto score his first points. Mega drive by Hulk too going from P20 to P9.

Ocon again somehow manages to scrape by and get a point.

What on Earth is going on at Williams. Albon’s third DNF in a row, Sainz’s DNS.

Lawson scored a good chunk of points as well and is now ahead of Tsunoda in the driver’s standings. Wew.

Overall, enjoyed the race. Hopefully Silverstone’s a good one as well.

With how consistent McLarens are sooner rather than later Verstappen’s chances at WDC will become unrealistic. He probably needs Red Bull to turn it around after summer break, or Lando and Oscar to take each other out at least once. Right now he can’t even easily score podiums (only 5 of last 10 races), much less consistently win.

Apparently Yuki has adopted Checo’s racing style of just driving into people. RB21 must be devouring remnants of his sanity.

He has already given up the WDC, he basically tells journalists not to ask questions about his WDC chances. Because the chances are so slim there is nothing to talk about. And look how calm he was towards Kimi after the crash and in the press pen. If he still had a realistic chance to win WDC before the crash he wouldn’t have been this calm and friendly.

One, all these weirdos complaining about being spoiled about results here need to learn self control. Had to attend a party so couldn’t see the race live. It’s literally so easy to simply not open the F1 comm…

About the race itself, it looked like even though McLaren say they have two equal drivers they seem to intentionally give bad strategies to Piastri when he’s behind. Though logically I think it’s probably just shitty strategies they actually thought were good.

Was a solid race. Don’t know if anyone watched the onboards buy Alonso’s defense against Bortoleto at the end was some absolute top tier racecraft. Using DRS spots, lapping McLarens, blue flags… absolutely everything to cling to that spot. Also not sure if it was intentional or not, but since he stayed behind Norris he didn’t have to do an extra lap, which probably saved him. Old man still has it, I really wish he gets a good car next year.

Another hot day, another Merc disaster and this is something we’ve seen for a long time now. I have no idea what it is about it but the car just hates high temperatures. So of all races for Antonelli to have a brain fart in I guess this wasn’t the worst. Russell was consistent as always but not much on the table for him today.

Super impressed by Sauber and the step they’ve taken, I wrote them off completely this year as I assumed they had no reason to do anything but focus on next year. Fair play to them, they’ve made some great upgrades and seem better operationally too. Good pitstops as well today. Binotto cooking?

I’ve been extremely critical of him so far (and I’m still not convinced) but Lawson had a really good weekend. Hadjar has destroyed him so far but this time it was a role reversal. Very curious to see if it was a one-off or if he’s gotten over a mental block.

Disaster for Williams and I really want to know what the hell they’ve done. No other Merc team is getting DNFs like this, that’s there in a row for Albon!

Driver of the Day is probably Bortoleto for his first F1 points, but Alonso had a fantastic race too and should be in the conversation. As should Liam.

Sauber pit stops especially were good! Remember they kept dropping bits last season? They had some super quick stops today. Love to see it

With that level of traffic management Alonso may have a future in multiclass racing, perhaps even WEC. /s

yeah Liam, Sauber, Ferrari good. Merc bad. Mclaren excelent to let the show happen. I’m quite impressed how they let their drivers fight their chance vs make sure to do constructor points.
