The Supreme Court on Friday handed a significant victory to Donald Trump - and future American presidents - when curbing lower courts’ power to block executive orders.

Trump was beaming as he addressed reporters at the White House briefing room podium, calling it a “big, amazing decision” which the administration is “very happy about”.

The court’s decision not only impacts Trump’s birthright citizenship order, but also emboldens him to enact many of his other policy actions that have been temporarily thwarted by similar injunctions.

I’m genuinely baffled at all of the hand-wringing about his legacy that Roberts is doing.

Like, dude: the decisions you and your Tribunal of Six are handing down are taking a fucking sledgehammer to any semblance of judicial integrity and independence that remained. People think you’re irredeemably biased because it is nakedly obvious that you’re irredeemably biased. Your legacy is going to be “one of the people who played a central role in the destruction of the first American Republic. You were one of the central characters who failed to keep the republic. You will get no quarter or adulation from historians, decades from now. It’s entirely likely you’re ushering in an era of American balkanization, and who the fuck knows how that’s gonna pan out, because we store a LOT of our nukes in the poor as fuck red states. We are entering an era of chaos, and you were one of the primary players who got us here. There is no redemption for you or your ilk. You will be the “bad guy” in the history books. You are hated. You will be reviled throughout history. You will be a counterexample. Your progeny will be shamed for generations, and you deserve it.

The original usage of the word “outlaw” used to refer to a status given to a person as a punishment for failing to show up to court after being given multiple chances. It was a severe punishment. This status meant that they would no longer be subjected to law, but also that they would no longer be protected by it. Anyone could do anything they wanted to an outlaw and would not be prosecuted for it.

Trump just made himself an outlaw. If he is no longer being held accountable by law, he shouldn’t be protected by it either.

He is a man who would happily employ violence on anyone without a second thought, but homie wouldn’t bust a grape in a fruit fight. Remember, this is the man who went into his nuclear fallout shelter because Black people were demonstrating in the streets.

I still think the reason he went in the nuclear shelter was because he was considering nuking them

Supreme Court says trump is infallible and beyond justice.

    That doesn’t leave many options.

When it happens, it will be way more than one.

    He did this to himself.

So deport the justices. They have to go home sometime. And we don’t have to tell anyone where they were deposited.

Can we drop them off on next to that big digger bucket next to the rest stop in the middle of Nevada?

This is weirdly specific but Lemmy is weird enough that at least one person knows about it, probably from the Nevada equivalent of California Gold.

This conservative majority is acting like it expects there to never be a Democrat president again. Food for thought, I guess.
