So a bit of a story because I think it’s important to share what an older generation thought of these things.
I had an uncle, Vietnam vet, who was, as he described it, part of the ‘freak’ movement/ culture. It was a counter culture movement of the 60s and 70s, a kind of place to hold people who might not have been hippies, but roundly rejected “square” society. Think Cheech and Chong. Think Hunter S Thompson.
His turn of phrase was “let your freak flag fly”, as in , do things to demonstrate to society you are not interested and do not seek their approval.
The setup is kinda funny but I found the punchline pretty meh
Better punchline: Something something … our apartment has never been so clean!
Yeah that is better indeed
Or in the end after finding nothing:
Well now both we and the apartment are clean!
The cops raid the place with a similar device and find absolutely nothing.
gasp! They’re addicted… to cleaning!
Jokes are hard.
I also liked the set up.
A great system until you smoke a bit of green plastic.
please please dig up some old politeness mans.
national lampoon had the wildest of stuff. I still remeber this full page cartoon of in middle earths most desperate hour gandolf summons the legions of the jrr tolkien fanclub and there are all these geeky guys running from the monsters.
Some very funny, some does not hold up well, very sexist and racist. Aside from print their radio show was well done, I particularly enjoy the Woodstock Parody Lemmings.
another one I remember that would hold up to modern time is it was a flow chart to determine if you were left or right but it was designed so the moment you made any choice in any direction it threw you to the extreme of that thing.
