Basically if we allowed those on reddit to move their account here then this site would reach millions quickly. Its a much better site, run by Europe and would be amazing with more people
Why would I want my reddit account here? Yeah it kinda sucks to lose 14 years of history, but I couldn’t even tell you how much karma I have, f.ex. What I would bring over from reddit is the people and the many active niche communities.

ha, no, it wont. people wont just come here because it exists. believe me, we have tried.
What would moving your account here from Reddit entail? What would transfer with you? Your posts? Comments? Followed and moderated subreddits? Upvotes and downvotes?
Nothing more than linking ones account so you don’t have to go through the “approval process” simply only allow one account per email.
The approval process is instance-specific; if you think that’s what’s keeping people away from Lemmy, just recommend they join a smaller instance that doesn’t require approval.
