You’re right, he did make a lot of cuts to education, which helped to lead us to our current situation where people are denying basic science like germ theory and the earth being round. That’s been a Republican goal for at least 4 decades.
The Democrats didn’t even try to push universal healthcare. They chatted about it slightly and then quickly decided that they really wanted Obamacare. We all know that it was an intentional handout to the insurance companies, and you can blame obstructionist Republicans if you like, because they certainly did exist, but the Democrats were happy with what they got.
And I think it’s extra clear that the Democrats were more than happy to please their corporate funders because of how they handled the big bank bailout around the same time.
Obamacare was certainly a huge disappointment. But he did fight hard for it against very determined obstruction by the right. So while you can say it’s not great, at least he did try.
We have universal health care? News to me. Last I recall, Obama also made the rich richer and promised change only to deliver none.
