    It’s frustrating because of the gaslighting. “You’ll just feel a little pinch” - uh no. Sent home with nothing, “take some Tylenol” while I changed several overnight pads to deal with the bleeding.

    I don’t care if it’s not “supposed to hurt” - it clearly does. People have been saying this for years - why wasn’t that enough?

    Mine is late, and I’ve been putting off getting it taken out in part because no insurance but also the pain.

      When I was on my OB Gyn rotation for my 3rd year of medical school, my preceptor offered local anesthesia for IUD insertion as well as a prescription for valium to take before the procedure to all of her patients. She’s a younger physician though and very adamant about keeping up with the best/most current recommendations.
