The California-based company says it could not comply with House Bill 1291 and the measure would pose too big a legal risk. It has never pulled out of a state before.

      Companies play the threat game all the time. Just go, so a local startup that treats people better can take over.

    Good. The world will be a lot better without companies openly being allowed to shaft “contractors”, “contributors” – whatever the hell they want to call the people who should be classified as employees.

    "at boosting rideshare safety, including by requiring drivers to make audio and video recordings of trips” Why is this a bad thing? Isn’t it also for the safety of the driver? What am I missing?
