Yeah, Amazon controls like half of the entire world’s internet by this point. It’s truly an astronomically large number of sites. Between AWS and CloudFlare, it reminds me of the old AT&T/Bell telephony monopoly BS from the 70’s and 80’s.
Ironic that you say “grab a book”, when one of the largest booksellers in the world, putting all smaller booksellers out of business, is the thing we’re all railing against. Do you realize how much of a monopoly they have on all corners of the market? It’s not just “smart shit”.
I’ve been boycotting all amazon subsidiaries and affiliates for over a year now, so I’m not suggesting that we shouldn’t, but that’s easier said than done. This comment is displaying levels of ignorance to which I can only respond “gee thanks, I’m cured”.
In fact, several of my favorite authors have exclusive contracts with amazon, because it’s more financially viable for them.
How privileged, your wondrous life must be. I envy you the marble and ivory walks you must be able to tread in this, your halcyon paradise, where you can merely tell these ignoble peasants to eat cake. I pity you your ignorance. When the silt on which you’ve built your grand temple to your own ambivalence washes away, I wonder what you will say, then?
Get down off your fucking high horse and rage against the dying of the light in the corpofascist hellscape this world has become, or fuck off back to your palace, Marie Antoinette.
This is actually a very positive thing from the insanity, at first it will inconvenience users but then they will get used to looking elsewhere.
I’ve been trying to order directly from manufacturers or wholesale when possible. It’s been challenging but worth it so far.
Amazon will survive simply due to AWS.

I’d rather people got used to just going without instead. Grab a book, go outside under a tree. Read the book.
Cancel subscriptions, cancel memberships, cancel reoccuring costs. Buy food, and quality items. Stop buying ‘smart’ shit.
You need none of this junk. Stop feeding the machine. Make them hurt. We control ALL the power.

ETA: in fact, consider that, even if everyone with a prime subscription canceled right now, it would barely even impact their bottom line, because most of their entire revenue stream comes from AWS.
Cool beans…cancel subscriptions and grab a book, like I said.

Don’t forget to cancel your subscriptions, and grab a book to read it.
