I’m not talking about the FASTEST, the LOWEST, or the MOST CHAOTIC song, but what’s the HEAVIEST song you know?
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile because I’ve been trying to figure out why my choice feels so damn heavy to me. I know faster songs, I know more chaotic songs, I know more doomy downtempo atmospheric songs, but for some reason the way these elements come together in this song just feels so massive and crushing to me.
So with that being said, my pick for heaviest song is:
Tsukuyomi (feat. Travis Worland of Enterprise Earth) from Tsukuyomi: The Origin by Distant
Like I said, I know there are songs that are more way extreme in individual ways, but the way these elements come together in this song just feels so goddamn heavy to me - genuinely heavier than a lot of stuff people refer to as heavier.
Anyway, what’s the heaviest song you know, or at least the heaviest song that readily comes to mind?
Torche - Barrier Hammer is a nice contender: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qnQ4uSGgLPw
So weird quick story, I was introduced to three albums I adore by this absolute hurricane of a woman who had a brief but impactful presence in my life. One of them was Tyler the Creator’s Bastard, another was Thou’s Tyrant, and for years I have been trying to remember the third album, only able to remember that it was amazing stoner sludge and had something to do with cavemen. Cut to literally yesterday morning and out of nowhere like a lightning bolt it suddenly hit me all at once: Meanderthal!
So anyway, Torche kick enormous ass, I’m so happy to finally be reunited with them, and I spent basically all yesterday listening to them (mostly Meanderthal again and Admission).
I’m glad if I helped :). Personally my favorite is probably Restarter, but to each their own. It’s too bad they split, but if you need another hit, some members are now in Floor, and it has a similar vibe. (And Thou is another great choice btw)
