Iirc at least one Super Mario Bros. game (I think 3?) is literally framed as a stage play, and the LoZ universe is canonized as a ring cycle. There’s plenty of meta-ness to Nintendo’s IPs and it’s pretty neat.
yep, SMB3 intro shows it’s a theater troupe, hence all the sports together. It’s confirmed by someone at nintendo at some point
It was confirmed by Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario franchise. Though in the same video he implies he is Bowser Jr.’s mother so take it with a grain of salt
