I just want to say that I’m glad no one was sitting next to me when I opened up my front page of Lemmy today.
Normalize sharing context.
I opened Lemmy on a packed bus this morning and got the full blast…
Haha, nice
What happened? I, unfortunately, barely see any posts from this community.
Basically there was a huge amount of porn spam posts being made and comments to a bunch of threads in this community
I’m guessing something’s gone wrong with some sort of automation posting to the wrong community. But yea that could have been awkward if I’d opened Lemmy at work.
What is happening specifically?
+1’want to know, im really curious 😅
Spesifically it seems like a lot of spam/porn users have floodded the comment section with porn. I only got one from my instance; but blocked and reported it 🤷
Aaaaaand now you know
This is why it’s important to have an active moderation team. So if you’re active and care about this community, consider joining the moderation team to help out.
The niderators ARE the problem. Their task is impossible and futile. Everyone has to do it and that means the infrastructure for it will not exist as long as a team of idea shaping moderators stands in the way.
We need
Locally running open source content discovery algo
Locally running user reputation evaluation
Subscribeable moderation actions
Crowd sourced reputation weighted moderation
The ability to tune all those setting under the hood
If there’s not enough moderators subscribing to subset does not make sense. The idea of subscribeable moderators is interesting though I don’t expect it to be implemented. Duplicate communities on different instances serve a similar purpose already.
I could be missing something using boost instead of the website, but is there an application somewhere? I did find a link to apply for wiki contributions if thats it.
Just shoot a message to one of the moderators and say you’d like to help.
I’ve just checked 5hrs worth and some users are gonna get themselves snagged by screenshotting these dickbutts. Whether that’s by their ISP or whatever, and it seems might be wise to hunker down and ask active community members for moar reports?
Main thing is thou did you manage to get your openssh-server working on Android yet instead of using the client? I made that fugg up first time.
What a sad way to spend your time.
I hope things get better in your life.
