Summary

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) stands by his decision to interrupt Trump’s joint address to Congress, stating “I would have to do it again” despite facing censure.

Green protested proposed Medicaid cuts, warning “people will suffer and die” if the program is cut.

Fellow Democrats joined him in singing “We Shall Overcome” during the censure reading. Green called his actions a “peaceful protest” against presidential “incivility.”

Critics note apparent double standards, as Republicans like MTG previously interrupted Biden without similar consequences. Rep. Boebert’s comment about Green “shaking his pimp cane” has been criticized for racial overtones.

I live in Jim Costa’s district. I’ve been calling every day to let them know they should be ashamed. Thinking I can work remote a couple of hours outside his office next week, what should be on my sign?

Well, there’s little chance he’ll feel any shame, so there’s no point in working that angle. How about a “Clippy” approach:

        1. “We notice you’re working to dismantle the US government. Are you sure your voters support you in this?”.
          …or…
        2. “We notice you’re working to dismantle the US government. Who the f**k thought that was a good idea?”

Yeah clippy references. Very topical and modern. Hard hitting. Very politically motivating

“I’d just like to know if your constituency has approved of you dismantling our government for a fascist regime. I am sure your reelection might survive this decision, but that is ultimately up to the people you are making unhappy.”

Green protested proposed Medicaid cuts, warning “people will suffer and die” if the program is cut.

If mainstream media gave a shit this is what they would have been saying the whole time.

American taxpayers will suffer and die because of this.

Don’t even try to explain the numbers to conservatives, just make it clear that if it resulted in them getting more money somehow, it would be literal blood money.

But once you start that argument, it applies to all of America’s healthcare system, and mainstream media wants to (at best) maintain the status quo.

So instead they treat it as a math problem and ignore the human suffering

One issue with this is, Conservatives don’t care about random people dying - they’ve been conditioned by right-wing media into believing those people who die deserved it, or that it’s just a deep-state conspiracy with crisis actors.

They will only ever change their stance (and even then, only temporarily) when it happens to a friend or family member.

Appealing to their better nature is a fool’s errand.

What a surprise! The huge piece of shit didn’t think he smells like shit.

    What a shock!

Sharing what everyone is thinking is not an active heroism. Where was this asshole when Trump was trying to pass this shit to the Congress? Half the time you voted.

No pity and no love for Al Green. He’s just a useful idiot.
