Veilguard was excellent, but it pissed off bigots and now it’s outright unsafe to speak positively about it on the other site.

far cry 5 I don’t think many people hate it as such but just view it as repetitive but it was the first one I played and while most people say putting it in rural montana is boring and not exotic like far crys supposed to be I’m english so rural montana is practically an alien planet and the vibes in the game are immaculate just walking through the wilderness between points on the map to do stuff that down time in between is so nice and when you’re going further distances in the car the radio music is so good and while the stories stupid and the ending is god awful every one of the seeds actors were amazing each one of them was so good even if you don’t get that much time with them I’d honestly say far cry 5 is one of my favourite games ever not my favourite that’s fnv and second is mouthwashing but it’s in joint 3rd place with about a dozen over really good games that I can’t honestly say one is better than the other but I truly love all of them for different reasons

Witcher 3. The most unbelievable thing in a game where you fight every mythical creature ever is geralts voice.

It’s the voice guys put on to pretend to be edgy and cringe. It’s college humor batman.

The Surge is way better than a sci-fi souls-like attempt that so many reviews seem to argue it is. And Shammy’s review of it really does it better justice than most reviews imo. The limb-targeting system makes it really engaging, and the sequel’s directional parry system adds the depth that Dark Souls and Elden Ring are missing. I highly recommend it for anyone tired of replaying Souls games

Lawbreakers was easily the most fun I had in a multiplayer game ever. Ok, maybe that spot is shared with Titanfall 2, but Lawbreakers is a far better competitive shooter.

I’m still holding out hope that the modding community will crack the server-side code and create a good server browser for it.

Extremely easy question: Sonic The Hedgehog (AKA Sonic '06). Such a buggy mess, but I absolutely loved playing it on 360 and definitely wanna play it again some day.

Brink was cool, if a bit flawed. It could have become better if they had given it more of a chance.

Shattered Horizon was awesome at first, but eventually the game changed entirely and at some point an update just broke the game for hella people (myself included) so we couldn’t even play on a local server with bots and it was never fixed. :/

I enjoyed my time with Redfall. The gunplay wasn’t anything special, but the atmosphere was great. I loved the setting and soundtrack. I thought the art style was cool, and I liked the little bits of lore you could pick up.

The final update brought some big QoL changes to the game. I just look at present day Fallout 76, which launched in an even worse state and wonder what could have became of Redfall if Microsoft hadn’t fired everyone.

Silent Hill: The Short Message (53 on metacritic)

This game is almost universally hated, but I really quite enjoyed it and even respected what they were going for with the writing. My 8/10 review from when I played it: https://howlongtobeat.com/user/knokelmaat/reviews/u-145005/1

I have no experience with other Silent Hill games, which might have made me less critical of this game. By no means a masterpiece, but an interesting experience for me.

Dynasty Warriors series. Some criticism is correct, in that they really did release the same game several times in a row with minor adjustments. The gameplay is much more strategic than it was given credit for, though. It’s true your warrior basically feels like a lawnmower demolishing hundreds to thousands of hapless footsoldiers at a time, but the trick is that you are the army’s only lawnmower. Almost everything your allies try will fail catastrophically unless you help them. You really have to time your presence on certain parts of the fight to be where you’re needed. It feels very heroic. Also, the cutscenes are without exception hilarious and drew me to the source material Romance of the Three Kingdoms which has greatly enriched my life.

    Fable 3

It got a lot of flak back then, mostly because people were sick to shit of Peter Molyneux promising THE WORLD and delivering, like, JUST A GAME.

But here’s the thing. I didn’t follow gaming news. I didn’t know what a Peter molyneux was. I just know I got a fun little action RPG where I get to be royalty, and that scratched a very specific itch for me.

Legend of Mana has very confusing quests, but the amount of sheer content made it one of my favorite jrpgs of all time
