  • This isn’t a hack, but I try to do one thing at a time now.

If I’m cleaning the house and I’m tempted to deep clean a drawer or do some side quest that isn’t actually the thing I should be going, I’ll take note, say out loud “damnit focus, that isn’t going to help right now” and regroup.

It’s frustrating, but giving into my impulses is usually what makes shit take forever and never get done.

Also lots of caffeine and THC seems to help (?).

One of these days I’m going to try getting diagnosed for ADHD and get medicated, but making phone calls to do that and talking to someone sounds like a nightmare. That would be a truly unhinged solution for me.

  • It really depends on who defines what hate speech is.

Is questioning the Zionist genocide hate speech? Is being an outspoken socialist hate speech against capitalists? Is stating you want to separate church and state hateful against Christians? Is supporting Palestine hate speech in the UK?

I’m a fan of free speech. Unless it is literally inciting violence or panic.

It’s fucked up innocent people holding Palestine action signs are being arrested in the UK. Attacking free speech is what leads to situations like that.

  • Your first paragraph makes the assumption that the American people are/were on board with what is happening with Iran. Trump never attempted to get the population to support his actions. It’s deeply unpopular with his base and liberals alike.

With project 2025 they seized all levers of control. Checks and balances, if they ever existed, are all but gone. Seems the courts are the only thing left that produce any pushback and that is an intentionally slow process vs the move fast and break things actions of Trump.

He doesn’t care about his approval ratings, and congress isn’t doing their job. Huge amounts of aipac money are being pumped into all levels of government. Disinformation campaigns from 24/7 news stations keep the normies divided. Bot farms are further manipulating the online narrative using ai.

The whole thing is fucked, but it’s a little more nuanced than the general population not understanding (or frankly wanting to understand) the JCPOA.

Our government has basically been overthrown, and other than protests or violence, there is nothing we can do to stop it until November. We don’t have a viable mechanism to eject Trump in the meantime, and he’s going to continue stacking the deck in his favor with gerrymandering and other sketchy shit until then.

Turns out money and power runs things, and that doesn’t produce the best outcomes.

  • It feels like relying on GPS while driving around. If you know the roads well and just want some help with live traffic or somewhere you haven’t been before, it’s a decent tool.

If you rely on it because you don’t want to think and just want to press the easy button, you’re going to have a bad time sooner or later.

Back to software, I think there are a lot of people introducing concepts they don’t understand or can’t maintain (either from poor quality slop or it is just too advanced for their current level of understanding). You can do a few turns like this, until you’re stuck burning tokens in a loop without moving forward in a meaningful way.

I try to avoid taking the easy route myself unless I’ve burnt too much time stuck on some small detail. Ultimately I feel it is super important to understand what you are delivering. Whether it is writing it yourself, copying a stack overflow post, or using an LLM. Once you commit and push to prod you’ve got to deal with that crap.
