Great shout out! That’s my plan, keep it under desk connected to my monitor or move it to the living room, but never left idle if not in use.

Yup! I paid $217 USD with shipping
I was looking 2 weeks ago when I was getting tired of waiting for Steam Machine updates. They were closer to $150-$175, so they are going to keep increasing.
Nice, I’ve got a Mac Studio M1 Max with 32GB of RAM that I use with Ollama and then I host OpenWebUI and OpenCode on my Arch Server. I use the Mac as a primary workstation, so it’s a little rough when I start running a model. I’m sure I could probably do and learn more about Ollama to improve my experience, but for now it works for certain tasks.
What spec Mini do you use?
I was referring to the first batch… when an abundance of scalpers forced me to press the order button for 45 minutes and then told me it’s sold out.

Did you need to buy Infuse Pro or does the free version work for most use cases?
In the exact same boat, I’d love to know what apps people are using (tvOS & iOS)? I don’t have Plex accessible from outside my LAN (I use DirectPlay most of the time), but I do download to my iPhone/iPad with the Plex app for when I travel. Considering the questionable decisions Plex keeps making, I’m leaning towards switching to Jellyfin.

We’re not vegan/vegetarian but with the increasing meat costs and environmental impacts it has, we’ve leaned into this book a lot. Also so cheap to soak a 1lb bag of beans the night before.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Moving to Linux, need help about homelab distro
32·3 months agoI second this, my old server was previously OMV and then Proxmox. But with my replacement server I went Arch after loving my Steam Deck experience. You’ll learn a lot and I feel like the complaints of it constantly breaking aren’t true if you put a little effort before running updates. I mostly use it headless for remote development (LazyVim) and running containers (moved to Podman from Docker), but I also use Niri for the DE when I do need to use a monitor, for example playing Dwarf Fortress.

16·3 months agoGot my wife a Kobo for her birthday to replace her aging Kindle. She’s bought 1 book so far and gonna look at the Library integration.
Anyone got any tips for ways to use the Kobo? For example I have Calibre on my Mac and have used that to copy books I’ve “acquired” for her, is there any benefit in self hosting Calibre? Is it possible to get her Kindle books on the Kobo or is the DRM a nightmare nowadays?
I selfhost ByteStash and then save anything I use frequently and reference it when I need it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What thing at work made you rage quit your job?
56·6 months agoAfter university I was looking for any part time work I could find. This was in 2007-2008, so the job market wasn’t particularly good in the UK. Ended up at a company that did over the phone charity donations. I wasn’t working for a specific charity, it was a company hired by charities to make cold calls. Called a lady who said she was going through chemo and lost her job recently, although she really would love to help a children’s hospital, she couldn’t afford it. Asshole manager is listening in on the call, makes a hand motion and mouths to me “keep pushing, it’s just excuses”. I apologized for taking up the ladies time and said I hoped her treatment goes well. Hung up, took off the headset and walked out the door. One of the best decisions I’ve made in my life!
Have to ask… as a British guy who’s live in the USA for almost 20 years… is the “fruit” part a clarification this isn’t a “burger pie”?

I hop in and out whenever a new update comes out, feels like I slip into my usual grinding routine, collect resources then sell resources. Then a new game comes out and I drop off again. I did get it for the Steam Deck and appreciate the cross save feature and they really do deserve credit for the ongoing updates. But it’s a sandbox and same game mechanics as FarmVille sometimes.
Welcome 👋🏻
