I see where you are coming from, but as someone who speaks several other languages, I would say there can be benefits to lanagauge rules.
Agent Karyo@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•The Switch 2's price won't be impacted by Japan's new tariffs, but its games mightEnglish4·19 hours agoDidn’t mean to imply you can’t, I was just curious about the formal rules for the word.
And it seems “impacted” can be used in the sense of “affected”.
I am confused :)

Now I am confused. :)
Agent Karyo@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•The Switch 2's price won't be impacted by Japan's new tariffs, but its games mightEnglish72·19 hours agoAt first I was thinking, why not use “impacted”, it sounds a little bit awkward, but I’ve definitely seen it being used in relatively formal situations (or at least that’s what I remember).
But no, I looked it up and “impacted” should not be used in the sense of affected. TIL.

'My relationship with Gabe didn't really go that great'English13·3 days agoGunman Chronicles launched on November 21, 2000, and received mixed reviews from critics, which is still a sore point with Flower. “When you see reviews and they’re like, ‘Oh, this game is too much like Half-Life!’ And you’re like, ‘What, the best game that you ever rated? Too much like that, huh?’” The game sold relatively well, although Flower says he “didn’t get rich” off his cut. “I probably could have made as much money painting cars, as far as take-home money. But royalties are taxed at a lower rate, so it spent pretty good.”
On one hand, it’s already huge success that your game is being compared to HL1, on the other hand, that’s one tough competitor.

I would even go as far saying one can enjoy it even if they don’t particularly like rogue like gameplay elements (or ambivalent towards them).

Will need to check this one out to see how it compares.

Too bad the game seems to have serious bugs that won’t be fixed (dev got sick of it, which is fair).

Will need to post a mini-review of Revision the next time I get to replay Deus Ex.

I’ve played Deus Ex enough times that I sort of enjoy the clunky and RPG progression gunplay.

Invisible War is fundamentally flawed due to the small maps though.

Try one of the mods, they greatly improve things compared for he baseline game (I haven’t played the baseline version in 15 years).
Agent Karyo@lemmy.worldOPto Games@lemmy.world•Deus Ex devs say they weren't trying to make a statement when they made one of the most political games of all time: 'What I think is the right future for humanity is irrelevant. It's all about...'English2·7 days agoI see. Yes, stealth is in a strange position where it’s difficult to use it full time. There are multiple missions/maps where you will eventually not be able to use stealth.
I can see what you mean regarding guns being clunky. They do get more effective as you level up and get better weapons. Early game gunplay is very iffy.
But I actually like the RPG approach to gunplay and how it forces you to try and avoid direct confrontation and use a mixture of stealth and combat.
That being said, these are all fair points.
I’ve actually never tried Revision. I only use GMDX. Should try it for next play through. i feel like I need to reinstall once I clear out a major deliverable for work. :)
I see. Well good luck!
