Nobody has posted here in a while, so I thought I’d start the topic. How did you like the Kingdom and what would you rate it 1-10?

I think like the original sequels, this series became tired and derivative with each new release. They should have given it a rest and maybe done a premium TV series eventually instead.

It’s true that TV shows offer more playroom to develop and add/remove characters, especially considering the sociological nature of POTA. So you’re probably right, even though I very much do like the original trilogy (plus this movie).

    (spoilers)

It was very immersion breaking that the feral homo sapien was a good looking, skinny white woman with perfect teeth, good posture, makeup and a nice haircut. I am very certain that’s not what humans would look like if they lived as feral scavengers for several generations. They had a real opportunity to show us that the distinction between civilized being and animal was just a matter of culture and opportunity by showing is a truly stone age looking human, and instead we got pretty white chick because Hollywood.

Of the recent series, I enjoyed them all but this one was pretty cool. I felt like I was in the world much like I did playing Horizon series. Minus the advanced technology and robots, it felt* similar. Dystopian, lost civilization, uncovering pieces of lost tech, uncovering lost history debunking modern beliefs, really cool stuff. And the actress was great.

Sure, the clearly visible alternate route into the bunker that no one had looked for before…? Whatever. Fucking awesome eagles fucking shit up, and an entire culture around them. I liked it, the whole movie.

      Honestly, me too. However,

      spoiler

I thought we saw too little of Proximus Caesar. I know you can’t make a movie like 3-4 hours and expect it to be a huge success, but I feel like we didn’t really get to see why he did the things he did (besides being the obviously bad guy). I wish we were given the opportunity to sympathise for his cause, which would create interesting contrasts in relation to the movie’s actual heroes. Also, like the previous trilogy, there is an apparent enough lack of female apes to make it feel weird. Like, they’re 50% of the population and we almost always see them in the role of mothers. I get this franchise is more directed at males, but like, gals like me exist. And I love this film series. Lol.

Overall a solid movie because I’ve always admired the use of CGI in these modern movies, the environment was stunning and immersive, and like you say, the fact they have an actual culture (that isn’t just “being apes”) makes it feel more authentic and multidimensional.
