    Dogs have padding on their paws to protect them, it’s not perfect, and pavement can still get too hot for them, but it’s not the same as a human barefoot.

    Dogs fur keeps a dog cool as well as warm, if you shaved a dog it would overheat faster than if it kept its fur (and some dogs fur may not grow back correctly for years, if ever)

    This sign has good intentions, but is factually incorrect. Pay attention to your dog, and don’t push it past exhaustion. Learn what the signs are and learn what your specific dog can handle.

      The sign was for extreme heat, and a dog’s paws can certainly get burned with that. The things you’re saying about their fur apply to double coated dogs, not all dogs. Many do much better with a trim. Dogs also can’t sweat the same way we can, so their ability to regulate body temperature is much more limited. They can and do get overheated in extreme heat.
